MetaZoo Cryptids was created by fans, for fans. When MetaZoo Games closed its doors in January 2024, we knew the community needed a place to preserve the incredible world that had been built—the cards, the lore, and the stories of cryptids from around the world.

Our mission is to be the definitive resource for MetaZoo collectors and enthusiasts. Whether you're cataloging your collection, researching card values, or diving deep into cryptid mythology, we've got you covered.

MetaZoo TCG was created by Michael Waddell and launched in 2021 during the height of the trading card renaissance. What made MetaZoo unique wasn't just its stunning artwork or strategic gameplay—it was the Fourth Wall mechanic that brought real-world conditions into the game.

Playing near a river? Your Water-type cryptids get stronger. It's nighttime? Dark creatures gain power. This innovative approach created a gameplay experience unlike any other TCG, encouraging players to venture outdoors and explore while they played.

The game featured cryptids from American folklore—Bigfoot, Mothman, the Jersey Devil, Chupacabra—alongside creatures from cultures around the world. Each card was a gateway to learning about these mysterious beings and the legends that surrounded them.

Though MetaZoo Games closed in January 2024, the passion of its community lives on. Collectors continue to trade, players still organize games, and the cryptids themselves remain as fascinating as ever.
